i did this because i wasn't sure that my body of work actually shows that i can paint and that i can do realism, i just choose not to.
mostly because i had a argument with a coworker about how realism isn't that hard and that it's boring to look at, also that it challenges the artist more than the audience, and i feel that i would rather make people think than to just paint a landscape with pretty mountains and perfect lighting. i think it's a good painted skull, but in the end, it's just a skull.
First of all..you can paint, so you get mad respect from me. The painting itself is really nice looking and the shading (do you call it that in a painting?) looks nice too. I love this piece..I'm just wondering it seems like a bit of the bottom got cut off?
I agree, I am struggling with the same thing in my school's portfolio class. I like to make the viewer think with my work, so my concentration mixes realism with surrealism.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
