beast of being alone by brownboots beast of being alone by brownboots
18 x 24

ink, watercolor, spraypaint, found paper, matboard.

he's a good guy and has good intentions but he's overall very socially awkward and reclusive. he wants to be in a meaningful relationship but doesn't know how to approach it and he misses out on opportunities that are handed to him for being wrapped in himself and he projects his faults on others. he thinks he's lost the best thing he had and is stuck in a perpetual limbo, he'll get past that, but only to get stuck in some other mind trick.

this is probably the biggest beast i've done so far, i'm very happy with how it came out.

the infinity knot:
knots In strings and ribbons, associated with the themes of tying, retention and release. Their essential quality is one of uniting, binding, and thus also of confining; the undoing of knots frees energies and individuals.

laurel leaves:
laurel leaves were prized not only for their medicinal properties but also for their ability to cleanse the soul of guilt.

-excerpts from dictionary of symbolism, cultural icons and the meanings behind them by hans biedermann.

Where do you get those magnificent frames? I'm looking for some since years and I can't find some cheap ones. (Most of them are 60 bucks or more...)

hobby lobby has a 1/2 off frame sale every other week. also, if you know how to frame stuff yourself, it makes everything cheaper.

Wow! I love how you frame them, especially the background. With the gold and black, it really sticks out.

That is a particularly awesome beast. Seeing as it's a collage sort of thing, does that mean you cut out and stuck on each strand of hair in his mane?

no, not quite, they're painted in clumps and glued together.
