this one probably took longer than it should've. i sat with it for a really long time thinking about how she killed (my) beasts and how you kill an idea,i still don't know, but the best that i could think of was a nietzche that has been one of my favorites since forever and this piece sort of revolved around that.
"battle not with monsters lest you become a monster and if you gave into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."
i think that sort of brought the piece together in my head. also, wreaths of oak leaves are given to people who save lives, if my beasts are symbols of what's destroying me, she's helping to get rid of them for me. at the same time, the uroboros remains at the bottom perpetuating the cycle and both the oak leaves and uroboros mimic the shapes of her horns and boot laces. blah, blah, blah whatever.
the third arm works really well... you don't notice it until you look closely but that's what makes it work - if it was really obvious it would look strange. it's almost like she's two people at once, or you're looking at her twice or two aspects of her or something like that
The third arm caught my eye at the last minute. I associate a sense of hidden identity with the extra limb; at one degree she is standing listless and mundane, and in another she is the killer of beasts. She is any and she is all.
